Founder & President
Margaret Schultz (she/her)
Welcome! My name is Margaret and I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a passion for helping patients and families achieve optimal health. I view health from a whole-person lens: that is, influenced by the state of our body, mind, spirit, and environment. In my clinical roles, I have worked with people from all walks of life, with a special focus on marginalized populations.

Operating within the many constraints of our current health care system sparked my desire to help fill in the cracks and to come up with creative solutions to supplement traditional models of care. I founded Colibri Health Institute in order to share some powerful knowledge and tools that I hope will empower people to take charge of their health, and help them navigate a challenging and complex world with resilience.

Secretary
Maryam Naqvi (she/her)
Welcome to Colibri! I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner dedicated to advancing health equity and access to care for all. My journey in healthcare has been shaped by years of working in primary care within community settings. I have dedicated my career to providing essential health services and promoting preventive medicine for vulnerable populations.

My role extends beyond clinical practice to include advocacy for equitable healthcare access. Addressing health disparities within our healthcare system is a driving force and what has led me to primary care. At Colibri, we believe that everyone, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status, deserves reliable, evidence-based health information and services throughout their lifespan. When we empower individuals and communities to make informed decisions about their health and well-being, we contribute to building a healthier society.

This commitment is why I joined Colibri—to collaborate with like-minded individuals in working towards a future where healthcare disparities are minimized, and every person has access to the care they need and deserve.

Treasurer
Lauren Rosales (she/her)
I am a Certified Nurse Midwife based in rural Maryland, dedicated to providing full-scope Midwifery care to women throughout their reproductive journeys. Since entering the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2015, I have gained extensive experience in managing diverse patient needs, from prenatal care and labor support to primary care. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University and a Master’s Degree in Midwifery from the University of Cincinnati, equipping me with the knowledge and skills to offer comprehensive, evidence-based care.
Before pursuing my nursing career, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. This foundation has enriched my understanding of global health issues and cultural sensitivities, which I incorporate into my practice to ensure all patients feel seen and understood.
In addition to my clinical work, I am honored to serve as the Board Treasurer for Colibri Health, an organization committed to advancing health equity through education. Colibri’s mission resonates deeply with me, especially given the limitations and disparities present in our current healthcare system. I believe that access to quality education and resources is essential for empowering individuals and communities to make informed health decisions.

Director
Krandalyn Goodman (she/her)
Based in California, I have over a decade of experience working with underserved communities. I began my journey in higher education, helping underrepresented students and families gain access to the University of California (UC) system. After earning my Master’s in Public Health with a focus on Urban Health Disparities, I transitioned to the field of Public Health, where I helped develop smoke-tobacco policies at local community colleges and universities, and led mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics during the height of the pandemic.

In October 2022, I became a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and am currently working as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Program Analyst at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. In my role, I foster an equitable and inclusive environment at the Cancer Center by developing and implementing various DEI initiatives and programs, as well as track metrics among faculty and staff associated with the Cancer Center. I am thrilled to serve as a Board member at Colibri Health Institute, driven by my belief that preventive health resources and education should be accessible to everyone.

Director
Betty Lee (she/her)
I am a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and certified HIV Specialist currently working on a mobile medical unit for a clinic in Harlem. My experience has been almost all in the community or on the streets in various roles including psych nursing, substance use treatment and now a mix of all on the mobile unit. I am very passionate about health equity and ensuring care gets to all who need it, regardless of economic or educational standing. I joined Colibri Health Institute to help be able to do just that! Good health begins with a good understanding of our health needs, and Colibri is where people can start.
